01/ Overview
The route
The Horneggli Run goes from the Horneggli mountain station through fir forests to Schönried. At the beginning, the run is quite curvy and therefore not suited for beginners. It gives you a nice view towards the Rüeblihorn and Saanenland.
The descent begins at the Horneggli stop at around 1'770 m, the highest point on the route. Berghaus Horneggli stands right by the starting point, while Hornfluh lies a little off the route. The sledging trail initially descends through open terrain, dropping around 540 metres over three kilometres. The run takes just over 40 minutes. The surroundings remain largely free of houses until the lower section.
Closer to the valley, the open expanses give way to damp meadows. The first houses of Schönried appear only towards the end. Shortly before the finish, the route follows the Choufliesbach. The descent ends at the Schönried (Talst. Horneggli) stop, just a few steps from the finishing point.
