01/ Overview
The route
With the sledge, you can go from Berghotel Leiterli to Pöschenried at an incredible speed – past natural spectacles such as frozen waterfalls, surrounded by the prominent mountains around Wildstrubel.
The descent begins at Leiterli mountain station at around 1,940 m, the highest point on the route. Berghaus Leiterli stands right by the start. The namesake high point on the rounded Betelberg reaches 2,001 m, but lies well away from the sledging trail. The route then heads out across open terrain, with meadows and pastures dominating the landscape.
Over six kilometres, the sledging trail descends by around 720 metres in total. From the Betelberg ridge, the long run leads down largely open slopes towards the valley. Only near the end do the houses of Pöschenried draw closer. After around one hour and 20 minutes, the destination of Lenk, Pöschenried is reached at around 1,270 m. The Lenk, Hubelmatte bus stop is just a few steps from the end point.
