01/ Overview
The route
With its beautiful slopes and panoramic views, Gstaad’s local mountain, the Wispile, is delightfully attractive. It also has a toboggan run down to heritage-protected Gsteig. A visit well worth making!
The toboggan run begins at the Höhi Wispile stop, high above Gstaad. After a few minutes, the route reaches its highest point near Wispile at just over 1'900 m. Then the long descent begins. It leads across open terrain, initially over broad slopes and later towards Gsteig. The elevation loss is spread over an almost continuous downhill run, with no lengthy counter-ascents shaping the profile.
Over the approximately eight kilometres, the route descends a total of around 800 vertical metres. In the middle section, the toboggan run passes through the area around Chrine before turning further down towards the valley. Near the end, the route approaches Gsteig and finishes there at around 1'200 m. The nearest stop, Gsteig b. Gstaad, Post, is around 700 m from the finish.
