01/ Overview
The route
Ladir, Ruschein and Siat are located high above the bottom of the valley and offer views of the Piz Mundaun excursion mountain. After the Siater Alp, the path leads steeply down to the depiction of St. James in the church of St. Valentin in Pigniu/Panix. The destination for this stage is Andiast.
From the bus stop in the centre of Falera, the route leads between the houses and past the Sacred Heart Church. Open meadows and stretches of woodland soon dominate the landscape. Well-maintained hiking trails lead to Ladir and then descend to Ruschein, the lowest point of the hike.
This marks the start of the longer section on mountain trails. The path climbs via Siat through alternating woodland and open pastures. After around twelve kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at Crap Gries, at approximately 1,500 m. The gradient eases, and the route continues with steady ups and downs towards Pigniu. In the village, it passes the Church of Sogn Valentin.
The final section remains on mountain trails, crossing more pastures and woodland before reaching Andiast. The approximately 21-kilometre hike ends at the Chapel of Sogn Antoni von Padua; the Andiast, vitg bus stop is only a few steps away. Around six hours and approximately 800 metres of ascent should be allowed for the entire route.
