Senda Sursilvana, Stage 5/5

This stage is completely under the spell of the Flims landslide. The extent of this can be experienced impressively from the new viewing platform near Conn. Gold was mined at Calanda, between Tamins and Felsberg, in the 19th century.

The starting point is the Laax GR, Bergbahnen stop. The broad hiking trail initially climbs through Murschetg and into the forest. After around two kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 1,150 metres. The Caumasee then remains a little off the route; at Plaunca dall’ Isla, a viewpoint provides a break in the dense forest.

The hike continues along forest tracks and across open sections to Digg and Trin. Here the longer section on a mountain trail begins. It follows a steady series of ascents and descents towards Tamins before the route gradually drops into the broader built-up area.

The route then continues via Felsberg to Chur. Towards the end, houses and roads dominate the scene; shortly before the finish, the trail passes the Erlöserkirche. After 25 kilometres and just over six hours, the hike ends near the Chur, Gürtelstrasse stop. The considerable overall descent makes the long distance more manageable, but stamina is still required.
