01/ Overview
The route
Touring the waterways of Grisons: This route takes you past four idyllic mountain lakes – Lag Prau Pulté, Lag Prau Tuleritg and the Caumasee and Crestasee lakes – adding emerald-green and azure-blue accents to the landscape of Flims. There are more highlights to see along the way too, like the view into the Rhine Gorge from the Il Spir observation platform and the scenic stretch through the Felsbach Gorge.
From the Foppa valley station in Flims, the mountain trail immediately climbs steeply through the forest. After the first ascent, the route reaches its highest point near Crest la Plugliusa at around 1,260 m. The trail then becomes gentler and leads to Lag Prau Pulté.
The route continues through forest and across open meadows to Lag Prau Tuleritg. This lake without an outlet forms part of a complex hydrological system in the Flims rockslide area, and its water level fluctuates over the course of the year. A little later, Caumasee appears among the trees of Uaul Grond. The café by the bathing beach is an ideal place for a break.
The second half remains mainly in the forest. Passing the Plaunca dall’Isla viewpoint, the waymarked hiking trail descends to Crestasee, the lowest point of the route. The lake can be reached only on foot or by bicycle. The route then climbs back to Flims and returns through Waldhaus to the starting point at the valley station. A good four hours should be allowed for the 15 kilometres and around 580 metres of ascent.
