01/ Overview
The route
From the monastery village of Disentis/Mustér, this stage leads through small farming villages, and past the Sogn Giachen chapel in Cuoz, which was built by the Brotherhood of St. James. On the mountain path, you can enjoy the view of the Vorderrhein, which winds through the valley. You cross the 120-metre-long railway viaduct at Bugnei.
The starting point is just a few steps from the Disentis/Mustér, staziun/posta stop. The hike leaves Disentis on a yellow-marked trail and climbs between houses and open meadows. The route soon follows the Rein d’Acletta for a short stretch before continuing through Cuoz and Buretsch to Segnas.
Pastures and small settlements then define the hillside. In Segnas, the Ustria Cresta lies close to the trail, after which the route continues with gentle ups and downs to Mumpé Tujetsch and onwards towards Bugnei. At the Caplutta S. Giusep, the character of the route changes as the final ascent follows a narrower mountain trail.
Shortly after Bugnei, the hike reaches its highest point at around 1,450 metres. From there, the trail descends to Sedrun and ends directly at the stop. Just under three hours should be allowed for the nine kilometres, with around 460 metres of ascent.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
