01/ Overview

The route

The loop trail leads from Curaglia into the Val Plattas. Surrounded by an almost untouched natural and cultural landscape, you hike through forests, over alpine meadows and past picturesque mountain settlements. Along the route you will find instructions on how to use your senses consciously to experience nature in a holistic way.

The six-kilometre circular hike begins at the Curaglia, posta bus stop. The white-red-white waymarked mountain trail leaves the village and climbs via Gliarauns. Between open meadows and wooded slopes, the route quickly gains height. After Pardatsch, it continues to the highest point at around 1,690 m. Here, the 420 metres of ascent have been completed.

The return route sweeps back down towards the valley in a wide arc. Stretches of woodland alternate with open pastures as Curaglia gradually draws closer. Along the way, the mountain trail passes the small church of S. Brida. Shortly before the finish, the route also passes Sontga Clau and returns to the village centre. After a little over two hours, the circuit ends near the Curaglia, posta bus stop. Despite the manageable distance, the route, which is waymarked throughout as a mountain hiking trail, requires a certain level of fitness and is suitable for a compact half-day outing.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
