01/ Overview
The route
Relax by the side of the rushing Anterior Rhine and enjoy fantastic views of the Surselva from the Muntatsch. In between, visit chapels and churches with beautiful wall frescoes and dreamy little villages with typical farmhouses in Oberland style. The circular walk is usually passable even in winter.
From the Disentis/Mustér stop by the railway station, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially leads through the village. The route then descends towards the edge of the forest and reaches a barbecue site by the monastery stables. After the lowest point, the trail climbs steadily, alternating between woodland and open meadows. The Cuflons barbecue site lies close to the route along the way.
At La Caplutta, houses draw closer again, and shortly afterwards the Ustria Cresta stands directly on the route. The ascent continues, reaching the highest point of the circuit near Bostg at around 1,340 m. The terrain now opens out before the trail descends to Acletta and reaches Clavaniev amid meadows and houses.
From there, the hiking trail continues downhill to the eastern edge of Disentis. The final stretch leads through the village once more and back to Disentis/Mustér railway station.
