01/ Overview
The route
The lakes of Lag Serein and Lag Crest Ault nestle in little hollows below the rugged rocky faces of Piz Acletta and Piz Run. There are picnic spots along the shores of the lakes, with fantastic views of the mountain range opposite, featuring the Medelser Glacier.
The hike starts at the restaurant of the same name by the Caischavedra stop. Initially, the white-red-white waymarked mountain trail climbs across open meadows and pastures. Broad slopes characterise the first part of the route, with the forest left behind for the time being. About halfway along, the trail reaches its highest point at around 2,270 metres. The summit of Muota dil Tir lies well away from the route.
This is followed by the defining section of the tour: a long descent towards Disentis. The mountain trail quickly loses elevation across open slopes before later entering the forest. The first houses draw closer at Clavaniev; the final section follows an easier hiking trail to S. Catrina. A public transport stop is located right by the destination. Around four hours should be allowed for the 11 kilometres. The ascents total approximately 560 metres, while the descent amounts to around 1,200 metres.
