01/ Overview
The route
This route leads through the municipality of Tujetsch, passing a chapel and then carrying on to the church in Rueras. This is where you will start to climb, gaining just under 1,000 metres in altitude before you reach your destination. First you will arrive in Liets, with its magnificent views over the mountain pass landscape. The Milez area is a hotspot for winter sports. Passing through Bostgas and Val Val, you will come to the Pass Tiarms and eventually make your way to the Oberalp Pass. This is where the stretch of the Way of St. James through Grisons ends.
From the Sedrun bus stop, the mountain hiking trail initially passes through Camischolas and Rueras. After a short descent, the long ascent begins. The route steadily gains altitude through stretches of forest and then across open meadows and pastures. Around 1,100 metres of ascent make this a demanding day hike despite its moderate length.
At Milez, the terrain becomes more open. The white-red-white waymarked trail traverses the slopes above the valley, remaining amid Alpine pastures for long stretches. Towards the end, the gradient steepens once more. Shortly before the pass, the route reaches its highest point at just under 2,160 m.
The trail then descends to the summit of the Oberalp Pass. The nearby Oberalpsee lies slightly off the route. After just under five hours, the roughly 14-kilometre hike ends at the Oberalp Pass; the railway station is only a few steps away.

There may be snow on this hiking trail. Bring appropriate gear and plan accordingly.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
