01/ Overview

The route

In the midst of a fabulous landscape, the route leads along the river Julia to the refreshing bathing lake Lai Barnagn, which is circumnavigated. The route delights with an impressive mountain panorama and ends in Savognin with its medieval stone bridge.

The hike starts at the Tinizong, Cadras bus stop at around 1,230 m, which means its highest point has already been reached. The route initially leads between the houses of Tinizong before emerging into open countryside. Between meadows and pastures, narrow sections of mountain path alternate with longer stretches outside the marked hiking trail network. Despite the small difference in elevation, careful navigation is particularly important here.

Gently rising and falling, the trail descends through the valley towards Savognin. After just over halfway, houses draw closer again before Lai Barnagn appears directly beside the route. The terrain opens up once more along the lakeshore, after which a marked hiking trail continues into the village.

The route passes through Savognin to Restaurant Arpaci, which lies directly on the trail. Shortly afterwards, the five-kilometre hike ends at the Savognin, posta bus stop after just over an hour.

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
