ViaSett, Stage 4/6

This long and exciting leg in the heart of Parc Ela boasts magnificent mountain scenery and, in the autumn, is radiant with golden larches. Alp Flix is a high plateau with a moorland of national importance. The trail is dotted with impressive views of the glittering blue Lai da Marmorera lake and Surses.

From the Savognin, Danilo bus stop, the mountain trail leads out of the village and soon reaches Tinizong. It then climbs steeply: initially through stretches of forest, and higher up increasingly across open meadows and pastures. The total ascent amounts to around 1,400 metres; about seven hours should be allowed for the 21 kilometres.

At Cuorts, the landscape opens up. Shortly afterwards, the route passes directly by Cotti Agricultura before climbing through Tgalucas to its highest point. At around 2,000 m, near Motta digl Lai Neir, the main ascent is complete. The route continues with steady ups and downs to Salategnas, alternating between patches of forest and alpine pastures.

In the final third, the route turns southwards. Lai da Marmorera lies nearby, although the trail does not reach the shore of the reservoir. The mountain trail then gradually loses elevation and approaches Bivio. For the final few metres, the Gelgia accompanies the trail into the village; from there, it is only a few steps to the Bivio, posta bus stop.
