01/ Overview
The route
The path climbs to Del and then leads past Riom Castle, home of the Rhaeto-Romanic “Origen” musical theatre. Savognin is the destination for this stage. In addition to free mountain railways, it offers its summer guests a wide range of experiences in nature.
From the Tiefencastel, vischnanca bus stop, the mountain trail climbs out of the valley. The first section requires the greatest effort: through forest and across open slopes, the route ascends via Mon to around 1'400 m. The highest point lies above the village, after which the gradient eases.
At Del, the trail widens and continues through meadows in gentler undulations, along forest edges and on to Salouf. There, the route passes directly by the church of S. Gieri and the Gasthaus Alpina. Open pastures and short stretches of forest then alternate before Parsonz and Riom are reached.
In Riom, the trail passes Riom Castle, one of Graubünden’s most important castle complexes. The final section descends to Lai Barnagn and follows directly along its shore. Shortly afterwards, the roughly four-hour hike ends in Savognin; the Savognin, Danilo bus stop is just a few minutes’ walk from the end of the route.
