01/ Overview
The route
The path goes from Käserstatt to Mägisalp via alpine meadows and enchanting forest passages. Here, winter hikers can always catch a glimpse of the Wetterhorn mountains opposite.
The winter hike begins at the Käserstatt stop in open terrain. The route initially climbs gently, reaching its highest point at around 1,850 m after just under one kilometre. This completes the short counter-ascent; from then on, the elevation profile is predominantly downhill. The broad slopes of the Hasliberg dominate the scenery, while woodland and houses barely feature along this short stretch.
Over a total distance of around three kilometres, the route loses considerably more elevation than it gains at the start. It descends gently across open terrain towards Mägisalp. Near the end, it reaches the lowest point of the route, from where only a short stretch remains to the destination. After just under an hour, the winter hike ends at Mägisalp, only a few steps from the stop of the same name.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
