01/ Overview
The route
The longest tobogganing run in Eastern Switzerland – from the summit of Kronberg to Jakobsbad. As you ride along the ridge and across meadows and pastures, the imposing north face of the Säntis range is always in view.
The seven-kilometre descent begins at around 1,660 m by Berggasthaus Kronberg, just a few steps from the mountain station. The starting point is also the highest point on the route. From Kronberg, the panoramic view extends across Central Switzerland as far as the Allgäu, with the Alpstein appearing particularly close. In just over an hour and a half, the toboggan run descends around 800 metres. It initially leads through open terrain. The Jakobskapelle stands directly beside the route; beyond it, meadows and pastures continue to dominate the scenery far down the slope.
In the lower section, the houses of Jakobsbad draw closer. For a short stretch, the route follows the Wissbach before reaching the built-up area by the campsite. Shortly before the finish, the valley restaurant lies close to the toboggan run. A little later, the descent ends at Jakobsbad valley station; the Jakobsbad (Kronbergbahn) stop is immediately beside it.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Sledding is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
