01/ Overview
The route
Before making this descent, you have to earn it – but you are amply rewarded. At the end of the uphill trek is an attractive and cosy mountain inn. The views towards the Alpstein are magnificent and the sled run through the gently rolling landscape offers an ideal mix of leisurely and fast-paced fun.
The toboggan descent begins at Berggasthaus Ruhesitz, the highest point on the route at around 1,280 m. The starting point is some distance from public transport; the nearest stop, Hoher Kasten, is just over a kilometre away. From the outset, the two-kilometre descent leads downhill across open terrain.
The toboggan run drops around 360 metres in elevation over a short distance. Initially, the route remains outside the built-up area. Only towards the end do the first houses of Brülisau appear, with the open terrain giving way directly to the village. The descent takes just over 25 minutes.
The route ends by the church in Brülisau. The Catholic Church of St. Sebastian stands just a few steps from the route. From here, it is around 100 metres to the Brülisau, Kastenbahn stop.
