01/ Overview
The route
“In Klosters, the cross-country trail to Garfiun is indescribably beautiful,” gushes local elite skier Seraina Boner. The section from romantic Monbiel to the Alp Garfiun and back is not just a well-kept secret amongst locals.
It is only a few steps from the Klosters, Bündelti bus stop to the start of the eleven-kilometre cross-country ski trail. The route leads out of Bündelti and climbs gradually across broad meadows and open terrain. The long ascent defines the first part of the circuit, with around 260 metres of ascent in total.
At Alp Garfiun, the mountain restaurant lies around 200 metres off the route. The climb then continues until, after just over eight kilometres, the trail reaches its highest point at just under 1,400 m. It now descends again towards the houses of Monbiel. The final section completes the circuit and returns to Bündelti after just over three hours. The finish is once again only a few steps from the bus stop of the same name.
