01/ Overview
The route
A classic among the cross-country tracks in Davos Klosters, the Sertigtal trail offers skiing pleasure surrounded by forests and mountains like the Mittaghorn and Plattenfluh. Its delights include the Walser hamlet of Sertig and the little white mountain church with its pointed tower.
The start of the trail is just a few steps from the Davos Frauenkirch, Gadenstatt bus stop. Behind the houses, the route crosses open meadows into the Sertigtal, climbing for around six and a half kilometres. Near the Schwarzflua, it reaches its highest point at just under 1,900 m. Shortly afterwards, the trail descends towards Sertig Dörfli.
In the village, the circuit passes the Walserhuus and, a little later, runs directly past the Reformed church. This listed place of worship is used ecumenically and belongs to the valley’s grazing cooperative. Here, the route turns back down the valley. A long descent across the broad expanses of the Sertigtal follows, interrupted by short climbs. Towards the end, the trail passes Mühle Sertig and approaches the first houses of Frauenkirch once again. After a total of around 15 kilometres and a good four hours, the circuit ends in Davos Frauenkirch, just a few steps from the Gadenstatt bus stop.
