01/ Overview
The route
The family trail near Hergiswil is all about milk, herbs and cheese. Playful activity stations, glimpses of farm life and open meadows line the short route to the HĂĽbeli fire pit.
From the Hergiswil LU, Dorf PostBus stop, it is only a few steps to Stumpehus, where the Milk, Herb and Cheese Trail begins. The family trail leaves the houses of Hergiswil bei Willisau behind and winds gently through meadows and pastures. Playful activity stations provide information about milk, farming, herbs and cheese, while benches along the way offer places to rest.
The route leads via Grosslugental to Luegmatt farm and Neue Napfmilch AG. The programme includes a miniature farm, a visit to the cowshed in accordance with the applicable Stallvisite rules, hands-on cheesemaking and a virtual tour of the cheese dairy. A herb memory game and content accessed by QR code also feature along the trail. The route, just over 3 km long, is suitable for pushchairs; one steep section can be bypassed. At Opfersei, it reaches its highest point at around 720 m before descending gently towards HĂĽbeli. The HĂĽbeli fire pit, complete with a table, awaits at trail information board 13. From the finish, it is around 150 m to the HĂĽbeli LU, Hintersagi PostBus stop.
