01/ Overview
The route
A scenic circuit through the Lucerne hinterland, crossing fields, pastures and woodland to the highest point near Chrüzhubel, then following the Änziwigger back to Hergiswil.
The circular hike begins in the heart of the village at the Hergiswil LU, Dorf PostBus stop. After a short stretch on asphalt, the hiking trail winds through the rolling farmland of the Lucerne hinterland. Fields, pastures and patches of woodland alternate along the way, with views opening up across the Napf region and as far as the Jura range. The route leads via Lindenegg and Unders-Chapf to Chanzelsagen, where Restaurant Sagali, located directly beside the trail, offers a welcome place to stop.
The trail then continues uphill via Rohrmatt and Seeblenschür. Near Chrüzhubel, the circuit reaches its highest point at around 910 m before descending across open slopes towards Opfersei and Hübeli. The Hinter Säge fire pit is located above the sawmill. On the final section, the Änziwigger accompanies the route back through Grosslugental to the first houses of Hergiswil. Shortly before the finish, Café Thalmann lies beside the trail; after around three and a half hours and approximately eleven kilometres, the hike ends back at the stop in the village.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
