01/ Overview
The route
This route, which starts from the Mont-Crosin pass, follows the ridge towards la Bise de Cortébert where you will take the same path but in the opposite direction. The view over the Chasseral massif and the closeness of the wind turbines make the detour worthwhile.
From the Mont-Crosin, col stop, the approximately nine-kilometre cross-country ski trail sets off across the Jura heights. It initially climbs over open terrain, soon reaching its highest point at around 1,260 m. Here it runs along the Montagne du Droit, a long ridge in the Bernese Jura also known as Sonnenberg. Its orientation follows the folded structure of the Jura.
The circuit then descends gradually through the broad pastureland. Near its lowest point, the Auberge de la Bise de Cortébert lies a little way off the trail. At Prés Vannés, a few isolated houses stand in the open landscape. From there, the trail returns to the heights with gentle counter-climbs and reaches Mont-Crosin again after just over two hours. The Mont-Crosin, col stop is only a few steps from the finish.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
