01/ Overview
The route
Intuition and skilful steering are needed here: with 33 bends and unique steep turns, the toboggan run on the Rinerhorn provides an action-packed adrenaline rush.
The descent on the Rinerhorn begins at the Jatzmeder stop at just over 2,050 m, the highest point on the route. The Wunder-Bar is close to the start. Initially, the sledging trail leads downhill across open slopes, with views extending over the forests below to the houses of Davos Glaris.
Over the next three kilometres or so, the route descends almost 600 metres. The change is striking: the forest soon closes in on the sledging trail, and the open mountainside gives way to a tree-lined descent. Where the forest begins to thin again, the first houses draw closer towards the valley floor; after a little over 40 minutes, the sledging trail ends in Davos Glaris.
The Blockhuus and the Rinerhorn cable car are close to the finish, both less than 50 m from the route. From here, Davos Glaris railway station is only around 60 m away.
