01/ Overview
The route
Tschuggen is a popular view point to enjoy the magnificent panorama on the mountains around Arosa. Whoever wants to delocate from the mountain to the valley, had better do it on two runners – past the legendary Tschuggenhut and the heritage-protected Bergkirchli.
From the Tschuggen stop (Innerarosa), it is only a few steps to the start at Tschuggen, near the Tschugga. At just over 2,000 metres, this is the highest point on the route. The toboggan run descends across open slopes, losing around 200 metres in elevation over approximately one kilometre. A good ten minutes should be allowed for the descent, with expansive views across the open terrain throughout.
In the lower section, the houses of Innerarosa draw closer. The Bergkirchli lies around 120 metres off the route and is therefore not passed directly. It is Arosa’s oldest church and also the oldest surviving building in the resort. At the lowest point, among the first houses, the descent ends in Arosa, Innerarosa, a few steps from the Innerarosa stop (Tschuggen valley station).
