01/ Overview
The route
Pure nostalgia: this leisurely toboggan run with a fantastic view of the Landwasser Valley takes sledgers from the legendary Schatzalp, a former mountain spa resort, through the magical forest and down to Davos.
The toboggan run begins on the Schatzalp, around 200 m from the stop of the same name. Near Chlei Schiahora, the route soon reaches its highest point at around 1,870 m. From here, the three-kilometre descent winds down towards the valley, losing around 260 metres in elevation by Davos Platz. It runs mostly through forest, with occasional clearings offering views of the surrounding landscape.
In the lower section, the first houses of Davos draw closer. After the long forest section, the run continues between the houses. Open areas on the outskirts of town provide a marked contrast to the wooded start. Around 40 minutes should be allowed for the entire descent. The finish is near the Schatzalpbahn valley station; from the endpoint, it is just under 200 m to the Davos Platz Schatzalpbahn stop.
