01/ Overview
The route
From Rossweid, the trail descends steadily through moorland and blueberry spruce forest to Kemmeribodenbad, with views of the Schrattenfluh and the Brienzer Rothorn range along the way.
The hike begins at the Rossweid upper station, which can be reached from Sörenberg by gondola lift. At just under 1'500 m, this is also the highest point of the route. At the Mooraculum, the focus is on learning about moors before the broad hiking trail descends gently through open mountain scenery.
Between areas of moorland and fern-rich blueberry spruce forest, orchids and cottongrass line the trail. Views repeatedly open up towards the Schrattenfluh and the Brienzer Rothorn range. After just over an hour, the Salwideli mountain inn is reached. The route then continues downhill via Wagliseiboden; the Schneeberg farm shop offers homemade products and Natura Beef.
In the final third, wet meadows alternate with stretches of woodland. The gradient remains gentle as the trail continues down towards the valley floor. After just over two hours, the first houses of Kemmeribodenbad come into view. Nearby, Hotel Kemmeribodenbad serves its Merängge; the route ends at the Kemmeriboden bus stop.
