Rotenflue-Schlittelweg

Racy sledging fun at the foot of the Grosser Mythen: the run leads from the top station of the Rotenflue cable car to the middle station Rätigs. A steep section in the beginning and a curvy one through the forest make the run interesting. And there’s always enough time to marvel at the pre-alpine panorama.

The sledging run starts directly by the Rotenflue (Mythenregion) stop at the upper station. The starting point is also the highest point on the route, at around 1,570 m. From the very first metres, the trail heads downhill towards Stäglerenegg, while the Stägleren viewpoint remains slightly off the route. Below the Egg, the route enters the forest and quickly loses elevation.

The long middle section runs mainly through woodland, interspersed with open slopes around Schwarzenstock and Adlerspitzli. The terrain becomes more open towards Rätigs. A little over 50 minutes is given for the entire route. There is no direct public transport connection at the finish; the nearest stop, Rickenbach SZ, Windstock, is around one kilometre away. After four kilometres and a total descent of around 540 metres, the sledging trail ends in Rätigs at approximately 1,040 m, the lowest point on the route.
