01/ Overview
The route
A steep ridge path, open heights and sweeping views from the Napf define this circular hike. The return route leads back to Luthern Bad via the gentler western side.
The circular hike begins at the Dreilindenplatz bus stop in Luthern Bad, by the Maria-Heilbronn pilgrimage church. Beyond the last houses, the trail climbs steeply. It follows a steep ridge and passes through alternating stretches of woodland to Alp Trachselegg with its mountain restaurant; the terrain then opens out and the summit draws closer.
After just over an hour, the Napf is reached. At around 1'400 m, it is the highest point on the route and also the highest summit in the Napf region. From the mountain hotel, sweeping views open up across the Emmental Alps. The descent takes the gentler western side and follows the ridge, with steady ups and downs, to Eyflue.
Further down, the trail leads through woodland and across pastures, passing the Niederenzi inn. Towards the end, the Badbrünneli, with its energy-giving spring, lies slightly off the route. After just over three hours, the circuit closes back in Luthern Bad at the pilgrimage church and the nearby bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
