01/ Overview
The route
A steep ascent through the forest leads to the Napf, the highest summit in the Napf region. At the top, views extend across the hills to the Bernese Alps, before the route returns to Wiggernhütte.
The circular hike begins at the Wiggerehütten car park at just under 1,000 m. There is no direct bus service; the nearest stop, Luthern Bad, Dreilindenplatz, is around 1.8 km away. From here, the hiking trail climbs steeply through the forest. Along the way, simple benches and barbecue sites offer places to rest before a water point is reached at UHU Passage Napf.
Higher up, the forest thins and views open out across the deeply dissected Napf region as far as the Bernese Alps. After just over an hour, the route reaches the Napf, at around 1,400 m the highest summit in the Napf region and also the highest point of the hike. The mountain restaurant on the summit already lies in the canton of Bern, while the border with the canton of Lucerne runs a short distance to the north. The trail then descends through open pastures and forest back to the Wiggerehütten car park.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
