01/ Overview
The route
A peaceful circuit across meadows, through woodland and along a ridge. The route reaches its highest point near Gume, while Valais Blacknose sheep await at Nesslisbode.
The starting point is just a few steps from the Luthern, Dorf PostBus stop. At Restaurant Krone, the ascent leads out of the village. The broad hiking trail climbs through alternating meadows, pastures and woodland towards the Heubergkapelle and continues to the wooded Höchstutz. The landscape then opens up again; via Ober Wernisegg, the route follows the ridge in a steady succession of ascents and descents.
Near Gume, it reaches its highest point at around 1'140 m. The summit itself lies slightly off the route, but the elevated ridge offers views across the Napfbergland. Ahorn Alp can be included as a short detour. At Nesslisbode, there are Valais Blacknose sheep and other animals; around the halfway point, there is also an opportunity to get a drink.
The trail then descends again through woodland and across open slopes. After a good three hours, the first houses of Luthern come into view, and the circuit ends back in Luthern Dorf near the PostBus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
