01/ Overview
The route
Woodland paths on the Santeberg, views of the Alps and the Wauwilermoos, and two barbecue sites characterise this varied circular hike from Nebikon railway station.
From Nebikon railway station, the roughly nine-kilometre circular route initially leads out of the village. Via Rüsle, it climbs on forest roads and narrower woodland paths to the Santeberg. The trees provide shade for long stretches, though some open sections are fully exposed to the sun.
Around halfway, near Buechberg, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 700 m. From the Santeberg, views open up towards the Alps, the Napf region and across the Wauwilermoos. Two barbecue sites along the way provide places for a break. At Chätzigerhöchi, the second signpost bearing this name is crucial: only there does the route branch off towards Ängelberg.
The route then heads downhill again. The woodland increasingly gives way to meadows and the houses of Egolzwil. The additional loop via Schönbühl runs mainly on asphalt before the path descends to Nebikon. After just over two and a half hours, the circular hike ends back at Nebikon railway station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
