01/ Overview
The route
A gentle hike through the rolling countryside of the canton of Lucerne: from Schötz via Ohmstal, past farms and through stretches of woodland, to Gettnau railway station.
From the St. Mauritz bus stop, the route first leads out of Schötz. The yellow-marked hiking trail climbs gently between meadows, farms and small hamlets. Ohmstal is reached after around an hour, with an opportunity to stop for refreshments at the Kurhaus.
Beyond the village, open fields alternate with stretches of woodland. Passing Chli Lörzigen and Hof Gallis, the trail continues through the rural hills, offering ever-changing views across the surrounding countryside. At Hällershof, the route takes the left-hand option through the forest. Near Salberig, it reaches its highest point at around 730 m.
The trail then descends via Hünkihof towards Gettnau. Towards the end, the terrain opens up again and the first houses draw closer. The final section runs through the residential area away from the marked hiking trail network, reaching Gettnau railway station after around three hours.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
