01/ Overview
The route
Crossing meadows, woodland and panoramic heights, this summit circuit leads from Escholzmatt to the Turner and the Bock. At St. Anna, views open up back towards the village and across to the Beichlen.
From Escholzmatt railway station, it is only a few steps to the village square, where this circuit of just over three hours begins. Between the houses, the path climbs briskly to the chapel of St. Anna. At the picnic area with its fire pit, views open up back towards the village and across to the Beichlen.
Above the chapel, the route leads mainly along a paved road across meadows and pastures. On the Schwendelberg, open slopes alternate with short stretches of woodland until the scattered farms of Oberbödili are reached. The path then continues, with steady ups and downs, to the Turner, always with sweeping views over the hills of the Entlebuch.
At the Bock, the circuit reaches its highest point at around 1'240 m. The summit can be reached via a short detour. The longer descent then begins: first across open slopes, then through the Bockwald and past Bärgli, heading deeper into the valley. Towards the end, the houses of Escholzmatt come back into view. Passing Olis Eck, the route returns to the village square.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
