01/ Overview
The route
A sunny valley walk along the Ilfis and Schonbach, passing open pastures, picnic spots and farms with llamas, camels and water buffalo.
From the Wiggen, Egghus PostBus stop, the route initially leads away from the houses. After a short stretch through Höchwald, meadows and pastures open up. The route follows the valley on a gentle ascent, gaining barely 100 metres over the full six kilometres.
Along the way, the Ilfis accompanies the riverside path. Barbecue and picnic spots provide opportunities for a break, while some unusual grazing animals can also be seen on the farms along the route. At the Grossfeld trekking farm, these include llamas and camels, while elsewhere water buffalo graze in the pastures. A longer stretch leads through open farmland, partly outside the marked hiking trail network.
Before Marbach, more houses come into view again. Near the campsite and in the Ey area, the route approaches the village and briefly follows the Schonbach as well. The path then continues to climb gently, reaching its highest point at just under 900 m by Hotel Sporting. The Marbachegg, Talstation stop is only a few steps away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
