01/ Overview
The route
Moorland, Alpine pastures and the panoramic heights of the Brienzergrat characterise this circular hike. Along the way, Alpine products await at Tannisboden, along with tranquil stretches of woodland and a long return climb to Salwideli.
The starting point for this circular hike of just over five hours is Bergwelten Salwideli near Sörenberg. The trailhead is not served directly by public transport; the nearest stop, Hinterschwarzenegg, is just over 2 km away. Initially, the route leads through the Habkern-Sörenberg moorland, characterised by spruce and mountain pine. The mountain trail then climbs across open Alpine pastures to Arniberg.
Near Arnibergegg, the route reaches its highest point at just under 1,600 m. From the panoramic heights of the Brienzergrat, it continues with steady ups and downs to Alp Tannisboden. Alpine cheese, Mutsch, raclette cheese and yoghurt are made here. The trail then descends considerably, leading through alternating open terrain, wet meadows and woodland to Murbachbrücke.
From the lowest point of the circuit, the route climbs again. There is a barbecue site by the Bärselbach, followed higher up by a farm kiosk at Alp Schneeberg. The final section leads via Wagliseiboden back to Salwideli. After around 16 km, the circuit ends at Berggasthaus Salwideli.
