01/ Overview
The route
A hike to the Schönberg summit in the Principality of Liechtenstein. Graced with magnificent meadows, this peak's location in the midst of the Liechtenstein alps allows for an unforgettable view of the mountains and valleys of the Principality and the neighbouring countries of Switzerland and Austria.
The circular hike begins at Jöraboda in Malbun, away from public transport links. The nearest stop, Weite, Lonna/Heuwiese, is around eight kilometres away. From the starting point, the white-red-white waymarked mountain trail climbs steadily across open slopes. The twelve-kilometre route includes around 820 metres of ascent, so the long climb defines the first half of the hike.
After just under five and a half kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at around 2,100 m near the Naafkopf. The trail then turns downhill again, leading from the open terrain into the forest. The entire circuit remains on the white-red-white waymarked mountain trail.
On the final section, the route descends to just over 1,550 m. After just over four hours, the mountain trail returns to the starting point at Jöraboda.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
There may be snow on this hiking trail. Bring appropriate gear and plan accordingly.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
