01/ Overview
The route
This circular hike on the sunny pastures of the former mountain pass and trading village of Filisur passes scenic Schönboden and takes you via forests to the ruins of Greifenstein Castle from which the Graubünden nobility once dominated the region.
The approximately six-kilometre winter hike begins directly at Filisur railway station. Right at the start, the route passes s'Bahnhöfli before leaving the houses behind. Alternating between woodland and open terrain, the circuit climbs steadily. In total, it gains around 240 metres in elevation over a little more than two hours.
Just over halfway along, the route reaches its highest point at around 1'260 m, not far from Grossbodakopf. From there, it descends again via Schönboden. Farther on, the ruins of Greifenstein Castle lie nearby above Filisur. Towards the end, the first houses reappear; the Church of St Martin stands slightly away from the route within the settlement. The circuit closes through the village back at Filisur railway station, where the winter hike ends.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
