01/ Overview
The route
This hike with its many views offers a unique view of the Thurtal and the distant Alps throughout its entire length. In this vineyard region, you will hike alongside the well-known Iselisberg to the Kartause Ittingen in Warth, a Carthusian monastery and cultural centre of international importance.
From the Oberneunforn, Gemeindehaus bus stop, the yellow-marked hiking trail leads out of the village. It climbs gently between meadows and fields before entering the forest near Tröttli and Fuchsloch. Near Büel, the route reaches its highest point at around 540 m.
The trail then alternates between open countryside and stretches of forest. It continues via Iselisberg, with gentle ascents and descents, to Kartause Ittingen. A barbecue area lies directly on the route, while shortly afterwards Restaurant Mühle offers an opportunity for a break. The trail then descends through Warth to the lowest point of the hike.
In the final third, a longer forest path leads towards Frauenfeld. The Waldturm stands directly beside the route before Unteres Mätteli and the first houses are reached. After around 14 km and just over three and a half hours, the hike ends near Frauenfeld railway station.
