01/ Overview
The route
The round tour in Stein am Rhein will raise the pulse of nature lovers and fans of medieval times in equal measure. The route leads along the picturesque banks of the Rhine and holds many attractions at the ready.
The seven-kilometre circuit starts at the Stein am Rhein stop, almost directly beside the railway station. Soon afterwards, the trail reaches the shore of Lake Constance and passes through the houses of Stein am Rhein. Beyond the town, the landscape opens up: meadows and pastures accompany the gentle ascent, while Wolkensteinerberg remains some distance away.
After around three kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 420 m. A short section here runs outside the marked hiking trail network before entering the forest. It then continues to Wagenhausen with little change in elevation. At the provostry, the circuit returns among the houses; shortly afterwards, it passes a barbecue area.
The final section leads back through the residential area to Stein am Rhein, ending once again at the stop by the railway station.
