From Frauenkappelen, the path descends to Lake Wohlen and follows its shore and then the course of the Aare. Passing modern residential areas, old and new bridges, weirs and a power plant, you arrive at the Bear Park on the edge of Bern’s old town, via the mainly wide riverside path.

The walk of just under four hours begins at the Frauenkappelen, Kirche bus stop. At around 600 m, the starting point is also the highest point on the route. The waymarked hiking trail descends through the village and across open meadows towards Wohlei. Wohlensee, a reservoir on the Aare, soon comes into view. Located directly on the route, the Bogen17 Kiosque is an ideal spot for an early break.

Small settlements, fields and wooded sections then alternate along the way. The gentle terrain, with around 200 metres of ascent in total, makes the 15 km route pleasant, though it does require some stamina. In Bremgartenwald, the city is already drawing closer, but remains hidden among the trees for a while longer.

Towards the end, the trail enters Bern’s residential area. Near Nydeggkirche, the urban character becomes apparent before the route ends at Bärenpark. The bus stop of the same name is located directly at the finish.
