01/ Overview
The route
A short high-level hike through woodland and across open pastures. From Meielisalp, the trail climbs to near Greberegg before descending to Aeschiried.
The hike begins at Meielisalp at just under 800 m. The starting point is away from public transport; the nearest stop, Leissigen, Schulhaus, is around 800 m away. At Hotel Meielisalp, the yellow-marked hiking trail enters the forest. Between the trees and open meadows, the route steadily gains altitude without becoming technically difficult.
After just over an hour and a half, the route approaches its highest point near Greberegg. At around 1,140 m, most of the approximately 410 metres of ascent has been completed. The trail then begins to descend gently. A short section runs outside the marked hiking trail network before the route rejoins a hiking trail and reaches Aeschiried. The roughly two-hour hike ends in Stuelegg by Restaurant Panorama and the chapel. The Aeschiried, Schulhaus bus stop is immediately beside the destination.
