Winterwanderweg Marbachegg–Bumbach

No desire for strenuous ascents? The hiking trail for this winter is a real insider tip for you, then: it is sunny and perfect for all those who prefer a short, not very demanding tour. Hiking downhill almost consistenly takes you even past the cantonal border between Berne and Lucerne.

The winter hike begins at the Marbachegg stop, almost at the highest point of the route. At around 1,470 m, it initially leads past the Bergrestaurant Marbachegg and across the open Marbachegg. Sidemoosflue lies away from the route; instead, the landscape is defined by broad meadows and pastures, across which the trail soon descends towards the valley.

With only a few short uphill sections, the six-kilometre route loses around 540 metres in elevation overall. For much of the way, the descent remains in open terrain and continues steadily down into the valley, without following a stream or lake. Towards the end, the first houses of Bumbach come into view. The village is reached at the Gasthof Alpenrose; a final short stretch leads directly to the Bumbach, Alpenrose stop. After just over an hour and a half, the winter hike ends there at around 930 m.
