Winterwanderweg Moosfluh–Riederalp

The fabulous view of the Aletsch Glacier is just one of the reasons for choosing this popular route. It follows Härdernagrat with constant views of the fascinating Alpine landscape of the UNESCO world heritage site. The Victorian-style Villa Cassel, located on the way to Riederalp, is another amazing sight.

The winter hike begins at the Moosfluh stop, the highest point on the route, at around 2,330 m. It descends almost continuously, initially across open terrain towards Sparrhorn. Blausee lies slightly off the route, adding a small splash of blue to the vast mountain landscape. After the first steeper section, the trail becomes gentler and traverses the slopes in a long arc.

With a few short uphill sections, the route continues to Rieder Furka. The Riederfurka mountain inn stands directly on the pass. The trail then loses considerable elevation once again. The open slopes gradually give way to the first houses of Riederalp. Passing the zRiederhoru restaurant and the chapel, the winter hike reaches Riederalp after around five kilometres. A few steps further on is the Riederalp Mitte stop, in the heart of the village and the destination after just under two hours.
