01/ Overview
The route
This easy alpine trail on the south side of the Surselva offers much sun and gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and the valley. It leads through an extraordinary landscape, past several chapels and the picturesque villages of Siat, Ruschein, Ladir and Falera.
The winter hike starts in the heart of the village at the Siat, vitg bus stop. Right at the outset, the route passes the parish church of S. Florinus before heading out onto open slopes. It then descends towards Ruschein, with some sections running through woodland. After around three kilometres, the lowest point is reached at approximately 1,160 m; the houses of the village follow shortly afterwards.
The elevation profile now reverses. The route climbs across meadows to Ladir, where the Restaurant La Terrassa lies directly on the route. Beyond the village, the ascent continues until the highest point is reached near Crest da Tiarms at around 1,380 m. The following section also alternates between open terrain and woodland.
For the final third, the winter hike descends mainly towards Falera. Among the first houses, the Restaurant Casa Seeli lies directly on the route. After a total of around ten kilometres and just over three hours, the hike ends at the Falera, Volg bus stop.
